SHED FIRE IN THE FIRST DUE

7/31/10- The pre-alert sounded in the evening hours for a shed fire, bringing companies 9, 10, 25, and 33.  Engine 10-1 arrived and found a shed approximately 8'x10' on the ground and a small amount of fire.  Units completed fire extinguishment and overhaul, and investigated the cause of the fire, finding it to be caused by sunlight reflected through windows leaned against the side of the shed.

 


HOUSE FIRE ON RT 30

7/30/10- Tanker 25 was dispatched to assist Co. 4 (Cashtown) with a working hosue fire on Chambersburg Rd in box 4-2.  Tanker 25 arrived and supplied Engine-Tanker 27 (Buchanan Valley).


CAR INTO A TREE

7/16/10- Units were alerted in the morning hours for a vehicle accident on Rt 234.  Co. 25 arrived and found a vehicle into a tree off the roadway, and one injured subject.  Co. 25's crew assisted ambulance 6A (Biglerville) with packaging the patient, checked for hazards and returned to service.

 


1 ROLLED OVER ON OXFORD

7/14/10- Company 25 was dispatched with ambulances 33A (United) and 9A (York Springs) and Medic 28 for a vehicle accident with injuries on Oxford Road.  33A arrived and handled patient care, while Engine 25-1 and Squad 25 checked for hazards.  Units cleared the scene, leaving fire police until the tow company arrived to take the vehicle.


CRASH WITH WIRES DOWN

7/10/10- A little after 2 a.m., Co. 25 as well as ambulances 6A (Biglerville) and 9A (York Springs) were dispatched for a vehicle accident with wires down on Heidlersburg Rd.  Chief 25 (Lady) and Asst 25 (Crouse) arrived on scene and found a pole and wires totally blocking the roadway, another pole cracked and leaning, and the vehicle a few hundred feet up the road.  The driver of the vehicle was checked by 6A's crew, and the engine crew checked for hazards, with none found.  PSP assisted on the scene, as well as Fire Police, who kept the roadway shut down for hours until Met-Ed could come and replace the damaged poles.


BRUSH FIRE ENDS UP BEING CONTROLLED BURN

7/2/10- Company 25 was dispatched along with Brush 8 (Aspers) for a brush fire off Route 15.  As units responded, Captain 9 advised county that he was in the area and that the fire was actually on White Church Rd, and that it appeared to be a controlled burn.  Units arrived and confirmed this, and returned to service.

6/15/10- Ambulance 9A paid a visit to Co. 25 to help familiarize members with the rig and the equipment on it.

5/30/10- Engine 25-2 traveled 5 miles down Rt 234 to participate in the Memorial Day parade in Biglerville.  Fire Police from the "Dog House" also assisted with shutting down streets for the parade.


CRASH ON RT. 15

5/28/10- Co. 25 was dispatched, along with ambulances 1A and 9A, for a vehicle accident on Rt. 15 northbound in the area of mile marker 15.2.  While enroute, units were advised that a tractor trailer had rear-ended a car.  On arrival, units found a Ford Mustang spun out in the emergency vehicle turnaround area, and the tractor trailer stopped shortly up the road.  Both vehicles had minor damage.  Co. 25 assisted 1A with removing a patient from the Mustang, and checked for hazards.


STOVE FIRE WITH GAS LEAK

5/16/10- The pre-alert sounded in the later evening for box 25-5 for the stove fire in a structure at the Gettysburg Travel Plaza, bringing multiple companies.  Lieutenant 25 (Eyler) arrived on scene and advised that the fire was possibly out, but that there was an odor of gas in the area.  With units still enroute, the box was upgraded to a commercial structure box, bringing additional resources.  As units arrived and the gas was shut off, Command 25 held the box to companies 25, 6, Truck 1 and ambulance 1A.  Units responded from companies 1, 6, 8, 9, 10, 19, 25 and 26.

   


VEHICLE FIRE IN YORK SPRINGS

5/11/10- Engine 25-1 was alerted around lunch time to assist Co. 9 (York Springs) with a vehicle fire in box 9-2-30, on Rt. 94 in the area of the Rt. 15 overpass.  Engine 25-1's crew arrived and assisted with overhaul operations.



ONE OVER THE EMBANKMENT ON RT 15

5/7/10- Co. 25 was dispatched in the morning for a vehicle accident on Rt. 15, with a vehicle over the embankment.  Units arrived to find a construction arrow sign knocked over, and a Jeep Cherokee in the bushes.  The driver was transported from the scene by ambulance 1A. 



RESCUE DEMO AT CO. 6

5/4/10- Some members of Co. 25 ventured over to the "6th Cavalry" to check out a rescue truck demo unit from Rescue 1


ROLLOVER CRASH W/FLYOUT

5/4/10- Co. 25, along with ambulances 33A, 9A and Medic 28, was dispatched for a vehicle accident with rollover on Oxford Rd.  33A arrived on scene first, and soon called for airmedical.  The landing zone was set up right next to the scene in the large front yard of the nearest residence.  Engine 25-1 handled the LZ from the scene of the crash.  After STAT Medevac cleared the scene, fire dept units returned to service while the tow company worked to clear the road.



STONE JUG TRACTOR FIRE

5/1/10- The pre-alert sounded on Saturday afternoon, bringing company 25 and mutual aid companies to Stone Jug Rd for a farm tractor on fire next to a structure.  Units arrived to find a John Deere tractor on fire, and partially extinguished by the owners.  Engine 6-2 (Biglerville) pulled the foam line and finished extinguishing the fire, and crews performed mop-up and returned to service.

POSSIBLE TRAILER FIRE

4/30/10- Company 25 was dispatched along with mutual aid for a possible trailer fire in box 25-4-30.  Units arrived to find a mattress burning, and crews from Engines 25-2 and 6-2(Biglerville) worked on extinguishment and ventilation.


ENGINE GOES TO YORK COUNTY ON BARN FIRE

4/16/10- Engine 25-2 was dispatched in the early morning hours along with other Adams County units to assist York County Co. 65 (Franklintown) with a working barn fire, which eventually went to 6 alarms.  Engine 25-2 established the fill site at Old Rt. 15 and Baltimore Rd, and filled numerous tankers from York, Cumberland and Adams counties.  The engine then returned to service with a little assistance from Lady and Taylor's "Fifty Ton of Fun".

Adams: T6, T9, E10-2, T11, T26, T29
York:  T65, E67-1, T67
Cumberland: T23, T24, T25, E239, T41, T46





HOUSE FIRE IN NEW OXFORD

4/8/10- Engine 25-2 was dispatched to assist Company 33 (United) with 2 alarm house fire in box 33-13.   The engine crew arrived on scene and staged with other personnel, and assisted in salvage and overhaul operations.


FIELD FIRE

4/7/10- Company 25 as well as Brush 8 (Aspers) and ambulance 9A (York Springs) were dispatched around lunch time for a field fire in the area of Oxford Rd and Upper Bermudian Rd.  Units arrived and found an area of the field charred with a small amount of fire visible, and the landowner attempting to plow the fire under with his tractor.  The fire was put out quickly, and units returned to service.

CAR V.S. CULVERT

3/14/10- Company 25, as well as ambulances 9A and 6A were dispatched in the early morning for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries on Old Harrisburg Rd.  Units responded and found one vehicle that had hit a drainage culvert and was sitting sideways in the roadway.  EMS checked the driver, who was uninjured, and Engine 25-1's crew disconnected the battery and checked for hazards.  PSP also assisted on the scene.


SHED FIRE

3/10/10-  Co. 25 was dispatched as part of the first alarm for a skid loader on fire inside a shed in box 10-4.  As units responded, county advised that they had received multiple calls that this was now a working garage fire.  Engine 25-2 arrived second on scene, establishing the dump site until mechanical issues forced it out of service.  The engine crew assisted with setting up the dump site, and then assisted with fire attack and overhaul operations.  Tanker 25 also responded and assisted in tanker shuttle operations.



 


3 ALARM MOBILE HOME FIRE

2/24/10-  Around 0015, an engine from Co. 25 was dispatched to York County on the second alarm assignment for a mobile home fire in box 65-5.  Engine 25-2 responded with 8, and once on scene was directed to stage and send manpower to stage by Engine 65.  Shortly after, 2 of the engine crew were directed to set up a blitzfire and assist with knocking down the fire.  Then the rest of the crew was directed to side B of the structure to assist with fire attack.  The crew operated on the scene for roughly 4 hours, then assisted Cumberland Engine 223 (Upper Allen) with packing 5 inch hose, and returned to service at 0500.  Tanker 25 also responded on the box.

2/22/10-  Engine 25-2 and a crew attended the funeral for Mike Sneeringer, former fire chief of the Alpha Fire Department (Littlestown)



ANOTHER FIRE

2/21/10-  Engine 25-2 and Tanker 25 were dispatched in the later evening for a trailer fire in box 9-8.  The engine responded with 6, and the tanker followed.  Co. 25 arrived shortly after engines 8 and 9-1, and established the dump site, hooking into the 5 inch layed by Engine 8 back the lane to the residence.


ENGINE AND TANKER GO ON HOUSE FIRE

2/15/10-  Company 25 was dispatched around 1245 for a house fire in box 9-7.  Engine 25-2 drafted from the porta-pond and supplied Engine 9-1, and sent its crew to get an assignment.  The fire was put out quickly, and after salvage and overhaul operations were completed, all units returned to service.  Units on scene were: Engines 7-2, 8, 9-1, 10-1, 25-2, Tankers 6, 9, 25, Rescue 6 (RIT), 9A, and York Co. Truck 64.

2 FIRES AND A MINOR CRASH

2/2/10-  Companies 25, 6, 9, 10, 11, 26 and 33 were dispatched in the early morning hours to Hillandale Farms in box 25-2 for an electrical fire in a barn.  Engine 25-2 and Tanker 25 responded together, and arrived on scene to find a circuit breaker smoldering, and extending through the wires to other areas.  The engine crew pulled the trash line and entered the building.  Command 25 advised any units not on the scene to reduce their rate, and later held the assignment to companies 25, 6, 9 and 10 until the building could be checked for further extension.  Command then held Engine 25-2, Tanker 25, Engine 10-1 and 9A, while crews removed the box from the wall. 

In the early afternoon, Assistant 25 (Crouse) radioed county requesting companies 25 and 6 for a pile of pvc pipe on fire threatening a structure on Center Mills Rd in box 25-7.  Engine 25-2, Tanker 25, and Engine 6-2 responded, and then the Asst. requested additional resources, eventually bringing Tanker 9, Tanker 6, Engine 6-1 and Engine 8.  As the fire was brought under control, E6-2, E25-2, T25 and T6 remained on scene, and all others were placed in service.


Then in the evening hours, Co. 25 was dispatched along with ambulances 1A and 9A for a vehicle accident on Rt. 15 southbound.  Engine 25-1 responded and found a vehicle spun out in the median of the highway.

 


WORKING HOUSE FIRE ON BEAR MOUNTAIN

2/2/10-  Tanker 25 was dispatched to assist Co. 7 (Bendersville) with a structure fire on Bear Mountain.  Tanker 25 staged at the bottom of the mountain and assisted with water supply.
